Sunday 7th October KABBALAH AND MEDITATION With Philip Clouts
"When I've done a kabbalistic meditation my soul feels at rest within me; emotionally I feel on an even keel and physically the knots start to loosen. I become more able again to operate from a more conscious connection to my spiritual core." This is how Adam described his sessions with Philip Clouts, an experienced meditator who moved to Dorset last year. Philip is well versed in the ways of the kabbalah. Since he first learned to meditate over 20 years ago, he has studied many texts of this ancient system, and spent time with a number of the key teachers who have devoted their lives to the subject. He now offers kabbalistic experiences through teachings, meditations and musical events. Philip links the kabbalistic teachings of the 'Tree of Life' (as it is sometimes called), with easily learned, powerful meditations that make direct impact on people's sense of internal clarity and wellbeing. The Tree of Life, which is at the heart of kabbalah, contains 10 spheres, known as the sephirot, and each has its own set of related attributes. These take us from the most physical aspects of existence, through qualities such as creativity, thought, emotion, balance, structure, compassion, relationship, wisdom and inspiration, to our highest sense of universal interconnectedness. The beauty of using meditation is that we can experience these not just as ideas, but as lived energies - realities within our own thinking, feeling, physical selves. As Dawn, a recent participant puts it, "I'd looked into the Kabbalah a bit before but I found it quite confusing and abstract - it's exciting to find meditations that make it come alive."
