Elizabeth Clayton
Osteopathy & Cranial Osteopathy
Elizabeth Clayton DO, Registered Osteopath, qualified in 1990 from the British College of Osteopathic Medicine in London after four years' full-time training. She has attended many post-graduate courses over the years and since 1995 has specialised in the so-called ‘Cranial' osteopathic techniques. She worked using these techniques for two years at the highly acclaimed Osteopathic Centre for Children in Harley Street , London before moving to work in Yeovil in 2001. (‘Cranial' osteopathy is about the whole body, not just the head).
Osteopaths study anatomy and physiology in great detail and osteopathy is a hands-on treatment to the structure of the body. If the body's structure is out of balance due to poor body use, tension, injury etc we eventually experience symptoms such as pain and stiffness. Osteopaths work to release tension and help the body to rebalance so that it functions more efficiently and more comfortably. This applies to all bodies, whatever their age.
Some of the problems osteopaths treat:
· Headaches
· Whiplash
· Frozen or stiff shoulders
· Sports injuries such as ‘tennis' elbow
· Sciatica
· Low back pain
· Facial and sinus pain
· Pain and stiffness associated with arthritis
· Neck pain and stiffness
· Hip, thigh and knee problems
· Wrist and hand pain
· Back pain during & after pregnancy
· Childhood problems
Babies and Children: Persistent crying, feeding difficulties, sickness, colic, sleep disturbances, unsettled baby. Some behavioural problems, some learning difficulties, glue ear, asthma and chronic infections.
