The Awareness Centre - Mens Group

MENS GROUP – THURSDAYS 7.15 – 9.15pm

An ongoing awareness group for Men, supporting each other in personal growth and development

A Mens group is a place where Men talk to Men. We offer a Mens group a place where we create space to learn how to better support each other. Stress, tension, anxiety and other forms of fear, together with the angry, hurt, mean, jealous feelings we may have are all based upon our fears. When we feel hurt or angry our inner self knows what the underlying cause of the fear is- These may be fear of failure, rejection, not living up to others expectations, not being heard or getting our needs met.

A Mens group is a great place to begin exploring these fears which can create problems. This is not to say that a Mens group is a place to perform or where individuals are forced to reveal themselves, rather individuals are encouraged contribute at the level they may feel most comfortable.

Many men have reported that hearing others talk of their issues has helped them to understand or even resolve their own, this we can count as success; to have helped one another.

The group provides the environment to enable us to be safe to be honest, when this happens it is surprising what we may learn about ourselves.

Once we know our true selves, we can realise our true potential. Issues within groups can be varied, tending to arise when members express a need to 'look at or talk about them.

Other functions of the group are social, learning to be with men in places other than traditional male environments (discussing traditional male pursuits) and being with men who are interested in honouring them as Men rather than engaging in stereotypical pecking order behaviour.

If you have ever experienced being with men who respect and honour each other you will know of the fierce gentleness that we can generate, if you haven't then come and find out about this.

We meet on Thursday evenings, between 7.15pm & 9.15pm at the Awareness Centre in Chard Street Axminster.
